Today, Norm Goldman Editor Sketchandtravel.com pleased to have as guest of Sketchandtravel. Com Douglas Ward, author of Ocean Cruising & Cruise Ships 2005, now in its twentieth year of publication, published by Berlitz Publishing.
Douglas thank you for having accepted the invitation to be interviewed.
Norm: Douglas, can you tell us something about yourself and why you want to write a book about cruising and cruise ships?
Douglas: I worked on boardferries for 17 years before the establishment of an association of cruise passengers who were looking for more comparable information on cruise ships and cruise liners. Thus was born the idea for the book that started with 120 ships and 256 pages. Today, after 20 years, the book has grown to include 256 ocean-going ships, 656 pages, and half a million words.
Norm: Why did your first book, cruises and cruise ships has been published twenty years ago, he noted, and you need to update your book everyyear. How do you do for the collection of material each year for updates and how long it takes to order the annual update?
Douglas: For det første tager mig mindst three timer om dagen, hver dag i året, bare for at bogen opdateres, up-to-date og præcise. I will also travel substantial, with as many as 250 days a year. So naturally, I write when I travel, visit and sail on board cruise ships in the world.
Norm: What makes it so attractive for Cruiseshoneymoon?
Douglas: Cruises take the hassle out of planning a honeymoon, particularly as regards the language, cuisine / meals, entertainment and many other things that will make your honeymoon a fine, affordable vacation, and a complete escape from the pressures of life on earth. Indeed, it is also a good way to find out how to deal with a couple Spouses who live in a small room.
Norm: You see more weddings performed on cruise ships lately? What should cruisersmarriages ship?
Douglas: the nature of their (out of the ordinary) appeal, more weddings performed aboard cruise ships today, simply because there is so much help at hand. The main lines of the boat are dedicated staff to handle weddings and marriage, and the immediate support of other staff at the headquarters Cruise Line to withdraw from. Weddings In other words, completely adapted to the people affected (andwithout interference from well meaning parents and other family members can create tension and pressure on couples in the process of considering what is for many the most important event in their lives).
Norm: With so many options, cruise, like a man on the choice of a cruise and what you should consider before deciding on any one trip?
Douglas: Choosing a cruise depends on the success of your personal needs and expectations for a holiday. FirstCruise-goers would be well advised to speak with a reservation established cruise specialist, who will be able to help you in the right part of the cruise ship and to choose for the right reasons, taking into account your personal tastes and socio-economic considerations. There are so many choices that today there should be a boat cruise and to satisfy even the most demanding and discerning people. Perhaps the first decision, but should be to determine how many days you can take your holiday (includingtravel days to get to / from ships), and then think about the area you want to browse the most popular areas are the Caribbean, Alaska, Europe, Norwegian fjords and ports of the Baltic, and south-east Asia and Oceania. Those with more time who want more involvement with nature should consider the Antarctic and Arctic regions to visit (you Ideally, about three weeks). So there is perhaps the last long-range cruise
